NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- VFW Post 4250 is hosting the inaugural Veterans and Veteran’s Family Appreciation Parade at 4 p.m. Saturday
The staging point will be at Buena Vista Park on the North Causeway beginning at noon. The parade route will go East to Orange Street, South to Canal Street, and end at Old Fort Park. A brief ceremony will take place recognizing S. Truett Cathy, a New Smyrna Beach resident, World War II Veteran and well-known founder of Chick- Fil-A.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- 'Cudas quarteback Evan Schroeder and running back Raheem Mostert hooked up on a series of passing plays starting from their own 25-yard line, the final one a 9-yard touchdown strike to give New Smyrna Beach a 28-24 come-from-behind victory over previously unbeaten DeLand at the NSB Sports Complex.

The 10-10-10 Business Energy Expo held by the NSB Marine Discovery Center drew enthusiastic crowds Sunday as part of a worldwide effort to encourage alternative energy sources, including the people shown in this photo with the Intracoastal Waterway asa backdrop. Some 2,500 people attended Sunday's NSB event.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Sunday the tenth of October did not pass by without a meaningful business energy expo event in New Smyrna Beach. The energy conscious business exhibit offered the public a view of the ongoing 21st Century consumer products we have seen emerge in the last decade.
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- During her break, Bert Fish Medical Center case manager Karen Berkeley practices speaking Creole, rehearsing for her first trip out of the country and the wait is making her
anxious.
Berkeley is joining BFMC physician Dr. Regina Asihene on a 15-person medical mission to Haiti from Sunday through Saturday, Oct. 23. Also traveling with the team is Kelly Ann Green, 17, who learned about the trip from her mother, Eileen Green, also a BFMC employee. The teen is using her trip as the subject of her senior project.
CBS Sunday Morning (Brighthouse channel 6 at 9 am) featured a story about kids’ letters from camp. It was laugh-out-loud funny and so familiar. Every kid who goes to camp wrote one during their first few days. It reminded me of the old song “Hello Mudder, Hello Fadder” (sung by Alan Sherman) which in my day was very popular, right on point and also funny unless you were that kid writing the letter.
The life of an autistic child is a difficult one. Growing up is hard enough for the rest of us, can you imagine what they go through? The constant frustration and reminders of being academically behind, unable to communicate, and socially impaired, are the day-to-day factors in an autistic child's life. Continually, these children have to encounter rude behaviors, unfair treatment, and misunderstanding assumptions. All of these factors added together are the cause of the most frowned upon issue with autistic children: behavior.
Good relationships don’t just happen. I’ve heard many of my clients state that, “If I have to work at it, then it’s not the right relationship.” This is not a true statement, any more than it’s true that you don’t have to work at good physical health through exercise, eating well, and stress reduction. I’ve discovered seven choices you can make that will not only improve your relationship, but can turn a failing relationship into a successful one.
