Packers-Steelers Super Bowl makes for a Super Sunday all across America

Sera and I are big fans of the Super Bowl and we usually are in agreement on who will win the big game. Not this time. Sera is going for the Green Bay Packers and I'm picking the Pittsburgh Steelers.

This is definitely a pick 'em with the line spread at 2 1/2 in favor of the Packers, with super-stud QB Aaron Rodgers leading the offense and linebacker Clay Matthews anchoring the defense. The over-under is 44.5, which means is you choose the over, you are expecting a high-scoring game. The under means more on an emphasis on defense, especially in the red zone.

SOUTH DAYTONA -- The South Daytona Police Department has been awarded re-accredited status by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation -- the third such time since 2002.

The South Daytona Police Department was initially accredited on February 6, 2002. Its first re-accredidation was in 2005, with this being the third one. Many of the 276 standards that were reviewed by the team of assessors were critical to life, health and safety issues.

Undergoing the voluntary state accreditation process provides an agency with a “quality assurance review” and encourages intense self-scrutiny, resulting in more efficient and effective daily operations.

I try not to be a difficult person and sometimes I succeed. A lot of times I don’t. Getting older does have one advantage: You can speak your mind more often without worrying what the consequences are going to be. Maybe angering your boss, your wife’s family, that kind of thing. There have been dealings in Volusia County in the business and arts communities over the years that I have just shut my mouth about and kept my opinions to myself because as a businessman, I did not want to piss anyone off.

Bronchitis flare-up for husband and wife team here a real bummer

Sera and I are very sick. Both us had to have steroid shots this morning to help with bronchitis. We both had the flu and just after Thanksgiving I had pneumonia. I have asthma; Sera does not. But we certainly have lung infections. Because of this, our pace in posting stories and blogs has slowed considerably in the last week or so. I am also in the midst of a major investigative deadline project. We appreciate everyone's support and understanding.
