Masked man with knife robs NSB Sugar Creek Citgo

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A masked man armed with a large knife, possibly a machete, robbed the Sugar Creek Citgo on S.R. 44 near New Smyrna Beach this afternoon.
No one was injured during the hold-up, which is under investigation by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office. Deputies were dispatched to the store after the Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call reporting the robbery at 1:44 p.m.

PORT ORANGE -- In recent weeks, we’ve learned that new jobs may be coming to Volusia County. Several companies are now considering either moving their businesses to our area or expanding their existing operations here.
Teledyne Oil & Gas, a high-tech company that currently operates a 330-worker plant in Daytona Beach, may want to build a new facility nearby. This company specializes in engineering production that is used all over the world, and would be a perfect fit for recently laid-off workers from Kennedy Space Center. It could bring 100 jobs to our local area.

NWS: 57 degrees Sunday at New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport ties 10-year-old record
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Early Sunday morning temperature of 57 degrees at New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport tied a record for lows set in 2001 on that date, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.
Temperatures, though, are expected to return to normal for rhis time of year with a high of 90 today and bright sunshine.

Out of commission for the night with needed rest
I have been ill for the better part of two weeks with dental issues that are forcing me to throttle back. My wife, Sera, is doing what she can to help get items posted.

New Smyrna Beach man arrested in DUI crash for 2nd time

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- For the second time in less than two years, Mark C. Barringer has been arrested on DUI charges that resulted in him crashing a motor vehicle, New Smyrna Beach police said.
Barringer, 25, was arrested 4:53 Monday after wrecking his car in the vicinity of 300 Flagler Ave., according to a police report by officer Joseph Hunchard. When Hunchard responded, he found the driver asleep at the wheel with his Nissan Frontier in the middle of Flagler Avenue with the engine running.

Feeling somewhat better before return trip to dentist
I am feeling somewhat better today after being in agony for the better part of two weeks with an upper right gum infection and the first of two root canals behind me.
There is nothing like a throbbing, exposed nerve to just make the day that much more challenging. Monday was the absolute worst. I was in so much pain. And there's nothing more excruciating than the X-ray thing they stick in your mouth. After that it was the drill to clean out the tooth. It actually took three shots.
