NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- Nicole and Mike Kirkland of Edgewater dressed up their 1-year-old son, Nolan, as a shark, three years ago for the New Smyrna Beach Halloween parade.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- Dawson Porter made the catch of his life and he has the photo to prove it, courtesy of his father, Buzzy Porter, who posted the jaw-dropping image on Facebook.

The 12-year-old Holly Hill youth is shown holding this massive 26-inch redfish that he caught all by himself in the recent New Smyrna Beach Backwater Tournament.

PORT ORANGE, Fla. -- A domestic quarrel between a married couple on the verge of divorce ended in bloodshed before dawn today in the Spruce Creek Farms subdivision after the wife ran out of the house and the husband taking aim at their three children -- killing two of them in the process -- before shooting himself to death.

PORT ORANGE, Fla. -- Larry McKinney, former president and CEO of the Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce, who finished second in a crowded field in the Aug. 26 primary for a seat on the Port Orange City Council, has withdrawn his candidacy with less than three weeks to go before the general election.

"Today, I am withdrawing from the race for District 4 City Council in Port Orange," McKinney said in a prepared statement emailed to Headline Surfer® late Friday night.
