PORT ORANGE, Fla. -- How many of us still remember where we were and what we were doing on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, either before, during or just after the terror of four hijacked planes by foreign terrorists caused the spilling of blood on American soil?

President Donald Trump defended his comments downplaying the coronavirus threat, which appear in Bob Woodward's new book, insisting he's a "cheerleader for the country" and didn't "want people to be frightened" or "create panic."

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Fresh off the recount that re-iterated his outright win for a thirds term as mayor of this tourism-driven ocean-front city of 68,000 residents and 10 million annual visitors, Derrick Henry posted "A Letter to all who love Daytona Beach" on his Facebook page thanking the voters for giving him the opportunity to serve them for another four years in public office.

SOUTH DAYTONA, Fla. -- Bill Hall has become South Daytona's public servant du jour - having started in the municipal police force at age 18 and working his way up to police chief in his 35-year law enforcement career - retiring in 2013 for three years; then starting anew as elected mayor four years ago and winning re-election in the 2020 primary.

DELAND, Fla. -- After manual machine and hand recoiunts of the votes by the canvassing board, Derrick Henry has officially been declared the outright winner of a three-way primary for his third four-year term as mayor of Daytona Beach.

DELAND, Fla. -- Two days after Tuesday's primary election had incumbent Derrick Henry winning re-election outright for his seat as Daytona Beach mayor with 50.1 percent of the votes in a three-way race, the Volusia County Canvassing Board officially ordered a recount.
