Firefighters rescue dog trapped for more than 20 minutes on a San Francisco cliff

ABC10 video / Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025 / A pet dog that fell off a steep bluff at Fort Funston spent more than 20 minutes clinging to a narrow ledge before being rescued by San Francisco firefighters, officials said. A San Francisco Police Department drone operator located the stranded animal about 40 feet below the cliff’s edge. A firefighter rappelled down, secured the 40-pound dog in a harness, and brought it back up to its owner safely.
